Selena Gomez recently tried to make peace with her supposed ex-best friend Francia Raisa, and it looks like it worked.
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been going on, because if you’re reading this piece, you probably already know what’s been going on and may just need a refresher: Francia In 2017, Raisa gave her best friend Selena Gomez a kidney. Later, she said that the experience made them “family.” In November 2022, however, Raisa stopped following Gomez on Instagram after the pop star said that Taylor Swift was her “only friend in the industry” in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Raisa, who is also an actress, is said to have said “interesting” on an E! News Instagram post about the quote at the time, but the supposed comment has since been taken down. Gomez later wrote in response to a TikTok video about the fallout, “Sorry I didn’t name everyone I know.”
Even though Gomez called Raisa her “best friend” in March of this year, Raisa didn’t start following Gomez again on Instagram until three months later. On Raisa’s birthday, July 26, the Only Murders in the Building star posted on Instagram, “Happiest of birthdays to this wonderful person. I love you no matter where life takes us.”
Screenshots from fans that were shared on July 27 show that Raisa liked the post and started following Gomez on the social media platform. She didn’t seem to be following Gomez on Instagram when the dump was posted.
In a February 2023 interview with Glamour, Raisa gave hints about how the drama and the debate about who was right and who was wrong impacted her. “Whatever, I’ll talk about it: I get snakes on my Instagram comments a lot saying that I’m, I don’t know, using certain people for fame,” she said at the time. “If I’d been able to do that, I’d have been famous a long time ago. Those little things that people write about me hurt. I do my best to ignore and stay away from it. I got rid of my Twitter account because I couldn’t keep up with it.”
Let’s face it, family is hard. We hope this is the first step toward Gomez, Raisa, and their fans putting the past behind them and moving on.
