The Yellowstone actor’s hostage drama is tearing up the charts on Netflix.
If you were impressed by the major role that actress Kelly Reilly played in the hit neo-Western Yellowstone, in which she portrayed the intelligent and jaded Beth Dutton, then you will probably be interested in finding out what else you can find with her in after you have finished watching Yellowstone.
Reilly had a role in another movie that was released only a few short months before Yellowstone, and that movie is currently sitting in third place on Netflix’s list of most popular movies in the United Kingdom (at the time this article was written) being added to the streaming site on July 1st.
The title of this film is 10×10, and it’s safe to say that it’s not for those who are easily frightened. In the film, Reilly plays Cathy, the proprietor of a flower shop who is abducted by an unidentified man for reasons that become clearer as the story progresses. The name of the film comes from the prison cell that Cathy is held in throughout the film, which has dimensions of ten feet by ten feet and from which she must break out in order to save herself.
Luke Evans, who you may recognize from The Hobbit trilogy as Bard, some of the later Fast and Furious movies as Shaw, The Three Musketeers, and The Alienist, amongst many other things, plays the role of the kidnapper in the film 10×10, which also stars John C. Reilly. Reilly isn’t the only big name in the film, however; Luke Evans also plays the role of the kidnapper. It’s safe to say that he’s one of the most well-known Welsh actors working today (here’s the cast for 10×10).
The screenplay for the film was penned by Noel Clarke, who is most known for his work on the Kidulthood trilogy, his appearances in the early seasons of the relaunched Doctor Who, and his involvement in the television series SAS: Red Notice. Clarke also has a little part in the movie that she plays.
The opinions of Twitter users who have seen the movie are split; some have referred to it as an “amazing film,” while others have described it as “dull and predictable.” Additionally, several people have brought out the very reasonable point that every actor in the movie is British, although they all portray American roles… At this point, fans of Reilly will be accustomed to hearing her speak with an American accent, but the lack of Evans’ lyrical Welsh accent will be more obvious.
However, it is clear that a sufficient number of movie enthusiasts on Netflix are liking 10×10 for it to have risen so quickly in the rankings.
You’ll probably like 10×10 if you like claustrophobic thrillers with nasty characters, but keep in mind that it’s not exactly a movie the whole family should see because it involves violent scenes and unpleasant themes.
