Scientists say that Taylor Swift's show in downtown Seattle last weekend shook the ground so hard that it was about the same as a magnitude 2.3 earthquake on a seismometer nearby.

"We're talking about 70,000 people, all the music, and all the other stuff that goes along with a concert."

Jackie Caplan-Auerbach, a seismologist at Western Washington University, said that the "Swift Quake" caused the ground to move at a highest rate of about 0.011 meters per second squared.

Seismologists use acceleration to measure ground vibrations, which are then turned into the more familiar Richter scale, which is how earthquakes are usually measured.

Seismometers can pick up all kinds of ground movements, from cars to stampeding cattle, but the size of the "Swift Quake" has been compared to the "Beast Quake" of 2011 in professional football.
