Fans of Hong Kong singer and songwriter Coco Lee, known for her powerful voice and live performances, paid tribute to her at her funeral in Hong Kong on Monday.

Lee, born in Hong Kong and attending school in San Francisco, was the first Chinese singer to break into the American market.

She was the first Chinese singer to break into the American market, with her English song "Do You Want My Love" reaching 4 on Billboard's Hot Dance Breakouts chart in December 1999.

Lee was the first Chinese American to perform at the Oscars in 2001, becoming the first Chinese American to perform at the Oscars.

She was married to Bruce Rockowitz, former CEO of Hong Kong supply chain company Li & Fung, and had two stepdaughters.

Lee's death shocked fans, as her siblings posted on Facebook that she had depression for years and had attempted suicide at home on July 2. Over 100 fans dressed in black were waiting outside the funeral home.

Lin Jing, a fan from Fujian province, admired Lee's smile and appearance, adding that she was talented and inspired women to feel independent.

A video for her memorial service recalled their memories with Lee and mourned her death. Jackie Chan, an action star, said that everyone was proud of her when she sang at the Oscars.
