The way you use your Apple Watch will change after you update to WatchOS 10. Since it came out in 2015, not much has changed about how you use apps on the Apple Watch.

Even though the Apple Watch is now faster, bigger, smoother, and better at tracking health, it is still hard to use.

The Digital Crown can make scrolling feel more natural because you don't have to cover the screen with your finger. if you have a long list of apps to look through, it can still be hard to find the one you need.

But WatchOS 10, which comes out this fall and is now in public test, adds widgets as an alternative. With these small information cards, you don't have to dig through apps to find what you need.

Apple has widgets on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, so they're not new. But they work best on the Apple Watch because hitting and swiping multiple times on a screen that small isn't the best experience.

I've only been using the WatchOS 10 public test for a short time, but I already enjoy using widgets to set alarms, check reminders, and see if it's going to rain by twisting the Digital Crown.

The new method is more like how I actually use my Apple Watch, which is to do things like set a timer, pay for a subway ride, or start a workout, rather than looking for specific apps.

In WatchOS 10, you can get widgets with just a tap. To get to them, you can either swipe up from the main clock face or turn the Digital Crown.

By pressing and holding on the widget screen, you can update and change your widgets in the way you are used to.
